Thanks, Bee! Yes, I did seriously try again. But this time, I'd done it right and got a proper approximate weight. But almost every time I open and close the garage door, I still question if I got the right sized springs.

Goodness, I told my family this one and they CRACKED UP. The funniest part was that you decided to do it again. I'm glad however that you were successful...still laughing. Mollie

With my high intelligence ... I got the scale replaced and tried again. But this time, I didn't leave the scale in the path of a falling 130 pounds of garage door.

Personally, I don't think the bathroom scale idea was a good one period! I'm guessing there's a sticker somewhere on the door or tracking that gives its specifics such as weight, measurements, etc. If not, surely there's a serial number or some such identification number or code which would allow you to contact the manufacturer and find out how much it weighs! My dad was listening to this and busted out laughing when you came to the part about using your scale. I didn't think to ask him how he'd find the weight. What DID you do?

As long as it still reminds me of my age and gender, like my old one did, then you've got a deal!

If anything happens to you because of my facetious comment, I'll start a trust fund for your scale. Fair enough?

SK, that sounds like a good idea, but then again, so did what I did. If I try what you suggest, can I hold you responsible if I lose a limb … or neck?

Duh! First weigh yourself on the scale, then weigh yourself *holding the garage door.* By subtracting your weight from the combined total, you know exactly how much the door weighs.

LOL! I can't believe you used your scale to try and weigh your garage door. There has to be a better way to weigh it. Or, you could let someone else fix it for you. :-)

As for the execution of your idea...all you managed to execute was your scale. :-P (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
